Retread
Sourcing inspiration from the original Antarctic clothing designed by Thomas Burberry, these two outfits pay tribute to the heritage of outdoor clothing and tailoring, while using modern materials as fabrication. Using 0.3 oz Dyneema Cuban Fibre for the outer garments, the two outfits made for third-year studio in semester one 2018 aim to shed light on the capabilities of new materials. Dyneema composite fabric is an ultra-lightweight fabric created by encasing Dyneema fibers in non-woven laminate material. The seams are taped and sealed with specialty Dyneema adhesive tape which bonds to the composite fabric. 35mm images taken by Abigail Burgess.
